December Resident of the Month

This December, we are thrilled to celebrate Dan Berendsen as our Resident of the Month!



Dan was married for 29 years and is the proud father of two children and grandfather to four. Born in Cleveland and raised in Parma, Dan has always cherished family adventures, including visits to their family farm in Pennsylvania. Among his favorite destinations are Pittsburgh, the Jersey Shore, and Washington, D.C., which holds a special place in his heart.

Dan spent his career working at Fazio’s grocery stores, but his true passions have always been art and creativity. He began painting in the third grade and has never stopped. His artwork is a testament to his talent, with pieces displayed not only in his own room but also gifted to fellow residents who proudly hang them in theirs. Dan even created a special painting for therapy, showcasing his dedication to his craft.

Beyond painting, Dan has a flair for the theatrical. He did makeup for the Showboat Community Theater and haunted houses, combining his love for horror films with his creative skills. He also dabbled in guitar lessons and used to be quite the chef, specializing in Italian and Oriental cuisine.

Since joining Riverview over four years ago, Dan has become a beloved member of our community. His laughter echoes through the halls, reflecting his friendly and outgoing personality. He deeply appreciates the care and support provided by the staff and never misses an opportunity to brighten someone’s day.
