May Resident of the Month
May 28, 2025
Meet Lee Sanderson—though around here, many know him by his nickname, Sandy! Originally from Cleveland and its surrounding areas, Lee has lived a full and fascinating life. He and his wife Sylvia have been married for over 30 wonderful years and share two sons, Scott and Sean. Their furry family includes Neeson the cat and two dogs, Pookie and Minnie, who have all brought joy into their lives.
Lee proudly served in the United States Army, and we are deeply grateful for his service and dedication to our country.
A true craftsman at heart, Lee spent many years as an auto trimmer, specializing in renovating cars—especially the iconic ’57 Chevy. He owned his own shop where he became the go-to guy for custom motorcycle seats. In fact, one of his seats was even featured in American Iron Magazine on the "Bike of the Year"! His creativity didn’t stop there—Lee has a passion for woodworking, creating mantles for his home and enjoying hands-on projects that show off his talent and attention to detail.
Lee’s love for the open road led him on many adventures across the country. He’s owned seven motorcycles over the years, and one of his most memorable trips was to the legendary Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 2005. His favorite travel spots include Florida, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Parkway, and camping trips in his trusty Chevy van. One unforgettable highlight? Getting to ride in an open cockpit biplane during a Harley rally—
“What a thrill that was!” he says.
Here at Riverview, Lee is known for his kind spirit and appreciation for those around him. He gives a special shoutout to Thomas, who makes sure he’s always looking sharp with a well-groomed mustache, and to the wonderful nurses on Serenity for their kindness and care.
Congratulations, Lee! We’re honored to celebrate you as our May Resident of the Month.
