June is recognized as Wound Care Month, and Riverview Pointe would like to take this opportunity to highlight our top-notch wound care program and the Wound Care Nurses that have changed the lives of many. Without the skill, expertise, and gentle touch of our Nurses, we wouldn't be able to deliver the next level of quality care that Riverview Pointe stands for.
Theresa has been caring for wounds in the post-acute setting for over five years at Riverview. She is passionate about treatment interventions to accelerate wound healing. She has been working to obtain her RN over the past few years and graduates soon! She says,
"I love being a part of someone's wound-healing journey. Kim and I make a great team and we are dedicated to improving our residents' wounds through our many options of treatments."
Kimberly Itayem and Theresa Weiss
Kimberly Itayem, MSN, APRN, AGPCNP-C, graduated in 2015 with honors from The University of Akron with her master's degree in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner-Certified. Kimberly started her medical career as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) in 2005 in skilled and long-term nursing home facilities. She has a unique skill set, having worked in a hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU), step-down unit, and the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). Kimberly also earned specialty certifications in pain management and internal medicine at nursing home facilities. Her primary focus is providing high-quality care services focused on patient-centered care.
Kim, CNP, rounds with our Wound Nurse, Theresa Weiss, every week to tend to all our wound care residents. Together, and with the help of our interdisciplinary team of Nurses, Therapy Team, Dieticians, and Physicians, we have healed numerous wounds so our patients can return to living their lives to the fullest.
