Finding Home: Mary's Journey into Long-Term Care

All of us at Riverview Pointe are so happy to see how well Mary has been adjusting since she moved into our facility over a year ago. She has become more vibrant, thriving in her new home. Her family is overjoyed with how much better and happier she is since joining our Riverview family. It's so fulfilling to see her more comfortable and content, embracing the support and camaraderie that Riverview offers.

"You have been amazing as you helped us navigate her transition here one year ago. You are fair but firm with your team, helping them recognize the struggles residents face. You are also great at recognizing Grandma's triggers and your chats with her are something she always talks about.

Grandma has a big personality and at times, it may feel like walking in a minefield. I watch how some staff bring humor, empathy, and sass back at her, which is what she enjoys and needs. When staff understands how to build relationships, it matters more than anyone realizes. It deescalates situations, both real and perceived, by my grandma.

I ask that you share this with all staff as a reminder that nursing homes have a special role as our loved ones age. I am thankful for all the love given to my grandma."
