Why We Care
June 1, 2022
From our newest staff members to our longest employed, each person has a different journey and steps up to make a difference in our residents’ lives. It takes a special kind of individual to work in this field, and we honor these selfless healthcare workers. Their daily tasks include showing our residents personalized care through our person-centered approach, which is individualized and unique to each resident.
Follow along as we showcase the hearts and souls at our skilled nursing facility by asking our teams how they show their care to our residents and why they chose the career path of healthcare/long-term care. Find out why a handful of our employees are so passionate about being a caretaker by exploring their answers below:

Tanya has worked at Riverview Pointe for 15 years! She has worked in a few different capacities, such as Social Service Coordinator, Nurse Manager, and currently, Direct Care LPN. Tanya chose to become a caregiver because she wanted to make a difference in healthcare.
She continues her journey of being a caregiver because she finds it a privilege to work in our residents’ homes. Seeing the residents’ faces light up melts her heart. Her favorite part is laughing and sharing stories with the residents. Tanya chose to work in healthcare because she feels it takes a special kind of personality to appreciate each unique individual. Her driving factor for coming to Riverview Pointe each day is knowing her coworkers are like a family that has grown over the years. Tanya feels lucky to work in a facility that shows kindness and appreciation for one another.

Katie has always been passionate about helping people. When Katie was younger, she witnessed her grandparents aging, going in and out of the hospital, and ultimately needing assistance with ADLs. She witnessed the struggles they endured and decided she wanted to help get them back on their feet. Katie took what she learned with them and decided to become a TNA.
Katie joined the team at Riverview Pointe in August 2021. You can find her hopping from room to room helping out everyone. Katie treats the residents she is caring for as if they were her family. She enjoys working on our skilled unit, The Greens. Katie enjoys conversing with the residents and hearing them talk about their spouses, past jobs, families, etc. It makes Katie’s heart full, seeing residents get stronger and healthy enough to return home. Katie says she has seen the good and the bad in the healthcare field but has seen the love that goes into being a caregiver. Being a caregiver brings Katie happiness because she knows that she is making a difference in the lives of those she is caring for.

Chris is our amazing PTA here at Riverview Pointe. He is loved by staff and residents alike. When asked why he chose Therapy as his profession, he shared, “I am an active person, so it was an easy decision to choose Physical Therapy as a profession. Being a PTA, I can help people through activity to return home to their prior level of living. The best part is interacting with all of the residents and encouraging them to push themselves a little more each day to return home safely with their families.”
